Important Bus Information 2023-2024

  • As we eagerly prepare for the upcoming school year, we would like to share important information regarding the bus routes, pickup and drop-off times, and other related procedures. We understand that safe and efficient transportation is crucial for our students, and we want to ensure that everyone is well-informed and prepared for the beginning of the school year.

    **Bus Routes and Schedules:**

We are pleased to announce that the bus routes and pickup/drop-off times for all students have been published on our official school website. You can access these routes by visiting www.middleboro.k12.ma.us/bus. Please note that both pickup and drop-off routes have been established for each school to cater to the needs of our diverse student body & the large area that Middleborough covers. Please know that routes do change year to year based on riders as well as the need to create efficient routes possible for our students.

    **Estimated Times and Initial Adjustments:**

Kindly be aware that the times listed on the routes are estimates, especially during the first few weeks of the school year. This period is an adjustment phase for both students and drivers as they acquaint themselves with the new schedules. While we strive to minimize any delays, it's possible that the buses may run late during this period. Please make sure that you and your student are at the bus stop early to make sure that you are there for your student(s) pickup. If a family misses the bus it is expected that the students will be driven to the school. Parents and guardians should not be trying to catch up to the bus later in the route. This is unsafe and should be avoided.

    **Substitute Drivers:**

FiveStar Bus Company has substitute drivers that will fill in on a route if the driver is out. Please know that substitute drivers are still responsible for making sure that every student on the bus is released to an authorized contact. This may mean that the disembarking process may take more time than normal to assure the safety of our students.

    **Potential Double Routes:**

Based on our experiences from previous years, there might be days when we face a shortage of drivers for our buses including substitutes. In such cases, we have a plan in place to ensure that all students are picked up and dropped off safely. If necessary, a driver may undertake a "double route." This involves a driver completing their initial route and then returning to the school to pick up students who may not have had a driver available. This may cause some delay in the bus schedule. Please know that FiveStar Bus does have additional drivers in case of a call out but this would occur only if those drivers are already on a route and there are no other drivers.

    **Communication During Adjustment Phase:**

To keep you informed during this adjustment phase, we will do our best to notify parents and guardians if buses are expected to be significantly delayed. We understand the importance of timely information, and we want to ensure you are well-prepared for any possible changes.

    **Notification System - ClassTag:**

We are pleased to inform you that our primary communication system for all updates and notifications is ClassTag. If a bus is running late, we will promptly send out notifications through this platform. More information about ClassTag will be provided as we approach the first day of school.

    **Bus Rules and Contact Information:**

To ensure a safe and pleasant trip for all students, we kindly request you to review the bus rules on the transportation webpage. In the event that your student is not being picked up or dropped off at your listed residence address, please reach out to the school directly.

As we gear up for another enriching school year, we appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work to provide the best transportation experience for our students. Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns. We look forward to welcoming all students back to school and ensuring a smooth transition.
