During our recycling unit, we have learned a great deal about how to help the earth...recycle-reduce-reuse. In our weekly science experiement, we worked with our team to design a machine that could clean up a jug of dirty water. (Fred was playing mud pie and used Mrs. Comeau's water jug!!!!) We used a soda bottle that was cut in half so we had a container and a funnel. We lined our funnel with a variety of materials in hopes that we could sift out the yucky stuff and have cleaner water. We might have used: paper towel, a mesh bag from onions, sand, packing peanuts, coffee filter, cloth, screening, and other household stuff.

 

We discovered that cleaning water is hard work and needed to be sifted several times.WOW!
