Middleborough High School
2011-2012 Summer Reading
Middleborough High School is changing the format of the summer reading requirement. As you may know, traditionally all students choose books from a prescribed list, which they read over the summer months and then take an exam in September. This grade is averaged into the student’s English grade. However, for the upcoming 2011-2012 school year all students will read the same book. Rather than administering an assessment at the beginning of the year that will be recorded in the student’s English class, teachers will embed meaningful aspects of the book into their curricula throughout the school year.
This year’s selection, Sunrise Over Fallujah, was written by Walter Dean Myers.
Sunrise Over Fallujah is available at bookstores and Amazon. Also the Middleborough Public Library will be stocking a number of copies.
Note: Students taking AP English courses will receive a list of additional books.
